Cadillac Hill – blocking a bypass

July 2nd, 2013

Well above Morris Rock, the Rubicon Trail splits in to two short routes. The route on the right has a differential buster of a rock at the end of it and the route on the left is a more of a rock crawl and little narrow for full width axles. So, someone started a NEW route to the left of the left route. This was a much easier route and I’m sure the rigs coming up Cadillac broken loved to see a bypass.

The problem with this is that it is illegal and the anti-OHV people continue to use the poor judgment of a small part of the users against us.

This was my second attempt to block this bypass.  I arrived on scene around 9:30, left just after noon.  More than 30 logs were moved in to position along a thirty yard stretch of bypass and anchored to each other with bailing wire. Branches with dead foliage were found and distributed to give the end points a finished look.

Driving up Cadillac, the trail forks: squeeze to the left, diff buster to the right. This is the left 'tang' and off to the left the illegal bypass begins.
